At Aces Jiu Jitsu Club, we are committed to fostering a respectful, safe, and productive environment for all members. Adhering to the following class guidelines and etiquette ensures that everyone can enjoy their training experience and progress effectively.
Dress Code and Required Gear
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Classes:
Gi Classes: A clean, properly fitting Gi (kimono) is required. Belts must be tied securely.
No-Gi Classes: Rash guard or fitted athletic top, and grappling shorts or spats. No loose clothing.
Protective Gear: Mouthguards are strongly recommended. Headgear and knee pads are optional but encouraged.
Muay Thai Classes:
Attire: Comfortable athletic clothing, such as shorts and a fitted t-shirt or tank top.
Protective Gear: Hand wraps, 16 oz gloves (for sparring), shin guards, and a mouthguard are mandatory. Groin protectors for males and chest protectors for females are recommended.
Attendance and Punctuality
Arrival: Arrive at least 10 minutes before class to ensure you are ready when the session begins.Warm-Up: Participate in the warm-up exercises to prevent injuries and enhance performance.
Absence: Inform the instructor ahead of time if you will be absent or late.
Code of Conduct
Respect:- Treat instructors and fellow students with respect at all times.
- Listen attentively when the instructor is speaking and follow their directions.
- Show respect by bowing when entering and leaving the mat.
Hygiene:
- Maintain personal hygiene; keep nails trimmed and clean.
- Ensure your gear is clean and free of odors.
- Cover any cuts or abrasions before participating to prevent infections.
Behavior:
- Maintain a positive and supportive attitude.- Avoid negative comments or behavior that could create a hostile environment.
- Follow the training intensity set by the instructor and avoid overly aggressive behavior.
Sparring Etiquette
Consent: Always ask your training partner before initiating sparring.Control: Use controlled techniques and avoid excessive force.
Tapping: Respect your partner's tap immediately to prevent injuries.
Communication: Communicate with your partner regarding the intensity and focus of the sparring session.
Additional Guidelines
Belongings: Store personal belongings in designated areas. Aces Jiu Jitsu Club is not responsible for lost or stolen items.Health: Stay home if you are feeling unwell to prevent spreading illness.
Assistance: If you need help or have questions, don’t hesitate to ask an instructor.
